In the latest of our regular poetry events, acclaimed local poets Tess Biddington and Sally Jenkinson share the stage, followed by an Open Mic when it’s YOUR chance to perform your own original work in front of a live audience – see guidelines below.

MEET THE POETS
Sally Jenkinson has been writing and performing poetry for more than a decade. Her work has appeared in the journals Lighthouse and Emerge, the Morning Star, and on BBC Radio 4’s Power Lines. She is also a mum, a care worker, and a community arts producer, and is currently working towards an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Gloucestershire.
Tess Biddington was born in Pinner, Middlesex, in 1954 and began writing in 1996. Her poems have been featured on Forest of Dean Community Radio, at the Cheltenham Literature Festival and in the New Wales Review. Tess is also a former winner of the prestigious Forward Prize for her poem ‘The Death of Descartes’.
OPEN MIC: HOW TO TAKE PART
If you’ve written an original poem and would like a chance to read it to a live audience, now’s your chance! Anyone can participate, whether you’re a seasoned poet, a budding writer or just someone who enjoys poetry. The session will be hosted by Steph Smith, and each participant will have a five-minute slot.
