'Tools & Things'

Missing a vital tool for your DIY project? Just borrow what you need from our brand-new tool library!

CAN YOU HELP?

We need volunteers for this project. All roles are small and flexible. If interested, please email info@thegeorgeatnewnham.co.uk or pop into The George and leave your contact details with us.

Do you have tools or things at home that are useful but rarely used – a hedge trimmer that comes out once a year, or a power drill that is only used when a new shelf needs fitting?

Many of us buy things that we only use occasionally and which we would be willing and able to share if only we knew who needed to borrow them!

Now there is an answer: Tools & Things –a ‘library’ of useful tools and equipment that you can browse online and borrow when you need it. It’s a great way to save money, avoid waste and reduce your carbon footprint.

How does it work?

  • Browse the online catalogue via the link below and choose the tool or item you need.
  • Register as a Tools & Things member – it’s free to join.
  • Follow the instructions to book your item. The usual loan period is one week.
  • Collect the item from The George.
  • Return the item in the same condition you borrowed it.
  • Fill in a feedback form.

What does it cost?

Use of Tools & Things is FREE, but a small donation per item will help cover our running costs. We may ask for a deposit on some more valuable items. A charge will also be made to cover the cost of consumables such as sanding discs and blades.

What can I borrow?

Too many items to list here! Our list includes a pressure washer, steam cleaner, thermal imaging camera, hammer drill, hedge trimmer, strimmer, soldering iron, toolbox (with basic toolkit) and kids’ party kit.

Can I donate items?

We welcome good quality items but to avoid disappointment please check with us before bringing them to The George. Thanks!
