This course is suitable for anyone who has had a diagnosis of dementia in the last eighteen months and is run by a skilled and experienced therapist. Sessions will be held every Tuesday afternoon for ten weeks from 2.00 to 3.30 pm, starting on 10 August. Explore the Japanese craft of using simple embroidery to mend and decorate fabric with tutor Ally Goff. Over two 2-hour sessions, you will learn the basics of the craft, including different stitch patterns and use of appliqué. Cost: £32.50. Please book early to be sure of a place!
In May 2025, celebrated pianist Clare Hammond and composer Michael Betteridge ran a remarkable project at HMP Featherstone and HMP Oakwood in which participants co-created pieces for solo piano to reflect their experiences of prison. In this combined talk and film screening, Clare describes the project, its profound impact on those who took part, and its significance to her as a musician and performer.
