Severn Treescapes is an ambitious project to create a 60-mile corridor of woodland across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Funded by DEFRA in partnership with the Forestry Commission, the scheme has already seen the setting up of a series of orchard workshops, equipping people across three counties with the skills to manage their fruit trees so as to maximise productivity and enhance wildlife and biodiversity.
In this illustrated talk, Megan Finn explores the vital part the project will play in mitigating the effect of climate change, highlighting also the importance of combining tree-planting with measures to protect and enhance the productivity of existing farmland.
