Catherine and Esmée Van Giap write:
‘Fragment means ‘a small part broken off or separated from something’.
‘This exhibition showcases recent works by the two artists side by side, where they come together to contrast yet complement each other, and demonstrate the power of the materials being used.
Throughout this exhibition, we are inviting the audience to reflect and consider the physical materials used, as well as the concepts and narratives proposed. As mother and daughter, shared ideas of natural landscapes, the sea, and nature are often repeated in our work, reminiscent of fond memories of years living by the coast. As we navigate these similarities, the beauty of the world is depicted in glass and paint, inviting the audience to appreciate and examine their own relationship with the world around them.’
