Sunlight floods through the windows, bathing the artworks in light……Newnham on Severn is a thriving village and there are other great galleries, pubs, B&B’s and shops. To ensure there is a good balance for visitors to enjoy Newnham to the full, we welcome both commercial and non-commercial exhibitions. We couldn’t operate without volunteer support. The purchase of the building was largely made possible thanks to the generosity and support of people living in, and near to, the village.

Everyone is welcome to participate in bringing the building to life. We’re a Community Benefit Society with an eco agenda and operate on a not-for-profit basis. We value inclusivity and accessibility. We want to engage people with art and issues. For example Julia Manning’s exhibition was about the decline of eels. Another exhibition coming up will look into river pollution.

The George Cafe brings in footfall and the building is gaining a reputation as a destination for both the cafe and the Gallery. And fantastic talks and events. The sunny, soft ambience of The Gallery is ideal to host art exhibitions. The adjacent room may also be available for hire on request, to provide extra space for shows. As well as the main gallery space, there are other areas where artworks can be displayed – in corridors, other public rooms including the cafe walls. The main gallery has space to display and sell 3D* works and the courtyard could display and sell modest outdoor works.

As well as exhibitions, the George Gallery space will host a myriad of events – talks, performances, music, recitals, discussions, plays etc. We may ask if the event organiser can get into the gallery before the gallery closes. Any disruption will be kept to an absolute minimum when that occurs.

*3D works will need discussion as to placement so as not to intrude too much into the floorspace when events take place..

WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU VISIT THE GALLERY BEFORE BOOKING
