About farOpen

farOpen – short for Forest and Rivers (Artists’) Open Studios – is a volunteer-run, artist-led network that organises the popular Open Studios Art Trail each July in the Forest of Dean and along the Severn and Wye rivers. Since its establishment in 2017, the number of artists it represents has grown phenomenally and the support it offers to artists in the community has broadened correspondingly. Alongside the summer Art Trail, group exhibitions are held in Summer, Spring and Autumn, alternating between local venues. Members also benefit from an online blog for sharing news and advice, and from regular monthly coffee mornings – a vital support network for a demographic who tend to work alone and can often feel isolated.

farOpen’s aims include building a thriving artist community, increasing year-round visibility and awareness of its members’ artwork, and holding a range of events and workshops. Through its successful marketing campaigns and exhibitions, it has done much to promote the Forest and Wye region as a centre of creative excellence.
