GALLERY NEWS – what’s on, and what COULD be on in 2025!
FIRSTLY, WE WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We are handing over the Gallery for mini-residencies during January to support artists who wish to try drawing on a large scale. It can be challenging and exciting to draw big, but not everyone has room to do it at home. It can be daunting, by working in small groups you can learn together. We have a limited supply of paper (which is free!) and are keeping the group small – 4 people in the space at a time. We ask you to commit to paying £25 per person for 5 days’ access each, to cover heating costs which, as you know, are now sky high. Jackson’s Arts have kindly sponsored this pilot by supplying 2 x 1.5 metre rolls of paper – so you can try it out without committing to buying a huge roll yourself. We understand you probably can’t do every day all day, so you can book the best available days for you.
Using the gallery in the dark days of winter to provide mini-residencies could become a regular opportunity if you want them to.
We are currently taking gallery bookings for this year and filling up fast. If you are an artist, a maker, performer, speaker, musician or run classes of any sort, you can use the spaces upstairs – even for private parties.
We only have a few tickets left for our next talk – OFF THE BEATEN TRACK – An Illustrated talk by round-the-world traveller James Greenwood, Thursday 16 January, 7.30pm
We are busy programming events and activities for 2025: menus, cakes, workshops, talks, exhibitions, classes, and music. Maybe there are other things you would like to suggest? Do let us know.
