DESCRIPTION:Discover the amazing life-cycle of our native eels in this stunning exhibition of prints by nationally known wildlife artist Julia Manning. Eels have populated our rivers and coastal waters for millions of years\, but their numbers have declined alarmingly in recent times. As well as their beauty\, Julia Manning’s prints vividly capture the vulnerability of the eels and the dangers they face as a species. \nAbout Julia\nJulia studied at Bath Academy of Art and has been earning a living from her paintings\, drawings and prints ever since. A member of The Society of Wildlife Artists\, she is a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy Summer show and has work in public and private collections throughout the UK. \nAdmission free\, all welcome. Meet Julia at the gallery and learn more about her work on Saturday 23 March\, 30 March and 6 April.

DESCRIPTION:An evening of folk music from three wonderful Forest of Dean-based bands. \nKAN KOTH: Kan Koth is a folk/Americana FoD/Bristol based duo\, consisting of Saara on vocals and mandolin and Toby on vocals and guitar. We play originals as well as new interpretations on folk\, popular and Americana songs\, laced with harmonies and intricate guitar riffs. \nTHE HUMBUGS The Humbugs are a quartet of old pals harmonising around the Forest of Dean with a smattering of originals amongst others by Joni Mitchell\, Paul Simon\, John Martyn\, Kate Rusby\, Everything but the Girl\, Patsy Cline and … well there’s got to be some surprises! They bring harmony and melodies together from the soundtrack of their lives and spread it around the Forest of Dean. \nSPINSTA: Birthed from a visceral delight in harmonies and a community of fire pit singing\, folk duo Spinsta are one of the fruiting bodies of a network of women who love to make noise together. \nThis is a relaxed performance\, This venue is wheelchair accessible and has a wheelchair accessible toilet\, There is standing room and seating at this event. DESCRIPTION:Come along to the George Community Hub in Newnham between Thursday 13th and Saturday 24th February and try out something new! Morning sessions run from 10.30am-12.30pm and the afternoon sessions 2.00-4.00pm. \nPerfect timing to have a delicious treat in the café before or after your workshop. Make it a day out and don’t forget to order some fresh bread from our in-house bakery for the weekend. \nWe have a wide range of things for you to be participate in\, from yoga to sewing\, Shamanic drumming to gentle mindfulness. A Choir to sing in\, a group to drum in\, hypnotherapy\, creative writing\, massage\, repairing clothing and more – all for adults! \nAnd a super-special workshop for children on Tuesday 13th at 10.30am\, during half-term\, led by The Innovation Lab from the Gloucestershire Libraries on Tuesday 13th. Some of the activities need advance booking due to limited numbers. Best of all\, the majority are FREE to the user. \nProgramme of Tasters for February.

DESCRIPTION:DRAW & WONDER 6 week drawing courses Tuesdays daytime Thursday evenings at The George\, Newnham\, GL14 1BS led by Carolyn Black (MAFine Art) Weekly classes in The George with Carolyn Black.  \nChoose between daytime or evening – or do both. Forget making a masterpiece\, discover experimenting and playful ways of mark making. You may ask yourself “can I draw”? Do you wonder what drawing even IS? And maybe hold the belief that you can’t do it? Are you curious enough to try?  \nWe will talk about all of these things. All you need to bring along are a few simple drawing tools and a willingness to play a little. It may be a new beginning for you to start drawing\, or you might be stuck in a drawing process you know well\, but want to try out others.
