SUMMARY:SOUND BATH MEDITATION - Monday 14 September\, 7.00-8.00pm
DESCRIPTION:Let the gentle vibrations produced by sound instruments soothe away your stresses and strains as you experience the unique relaxing calm of a sound bath meditation. Sessions held fortnightly in the George Gallery\, £10. For further details or to reserve a place\, please phone or text Katie Potter on 07415 302262. \n\nHealth benefits\nWhether you’re seeking relief from physical pain\, emotional distress\, or looking for peace\, sound baths can bring many benefits for physical and mental health: \n\nStress reduction and anxiety relief: Vibrations produced by the instruments are thought to interact directly with the body’s energy centres\, relieving stress and anxiety by shifting the nervous system from the fight-or-flight response to a state of rest.\nImproved sleep quality: Soothing sound waves can promote deep relaxation\, making it easier for the body to transition into sleep.\nEnhanced mental clarity and focus: A sound bath can help clear away the clutter of incessant thoughts and worries\, helping concentration and focus.\nDeepened meditation and spiritual insight: The vibrations of sound baths are thought to help you connect with your subconscious mind\, allowing inner exploration and self-discovery. Sometimes people experience profound insights or epiphanies during a sound bath.\nPhysical healing and pain relief: Sound bath meditation is thought to stimulate circulation\, enhance immune response\, and may promote the healing of tissues and cells. People with chronic pain conditions\, such as arthritis or fibromyalgia\, often note a reduction in symptoms.\nEmotional release and healing: Sound baths can create a safe space for emotional exploration and release. Because they’re thought to release emotions\, powerful sound waves may help people heal past traumas or deal with grief.

SUMMARY:Jazz at The George : LITTLE RUMBA – Wednesday 23 September\, 8.00pm
DESCRIPTION:Love beautiful melodies\, irresistible rhythms and songs that tell stories? Then Little Rumba are for you! Blending musical styles from Astor Piazolla to Eastern European\, the band have delighted audiences everywhere with their wit\, style and originality. Don’t miss! \n“Little Rumba are magic! Superb sound\, superb vocals\, superb sax\, superb accordion!! Great mixed sound and songs very worthwhile listening to\, Bring them back!” Happy punter at Colwall \n“Absolutely fantastic evening from you guys tonight. We had so many positive comments from the audience; very gratifying! Great musical talent\, great humour\, variety\, and warmth of performance.” Winchcombe Live promoter \n \nBand members \nJohn Hymas (violin\, viola and accordion) trained as a professional viola player in the classical world. He is also a highly regarded composer and founder member of the contemporary folk band Hoover the Dog. \nSinger and guitarist Pete Mustill was part of the original R&B boom in the 60s but subsequently had a ‘Road to Damascus’ moment in the late 80s on hearing the music of Astor Piazzolla. This led to the formation of The Tango Band\, a top-three album in the Czech charts and his first collaboration with Hugh Colvin. \nHugh Colvin is the band’s saxophonist. Another polymath\, his music is exciting and original and often sounds like the bastard child of Sidney Bechet and King Curtis! \nLittle Rumba’s inspirational bass player Jacqui Savage has underpinned  a whole series of Border and Midlands bands – most recently as part of the rhythm section of Zydeco masters Joe le Taxi\, and Paul Bridgwater’s Electric Blues Rebellion. \nOn their latest album Cafe Perdido\, Little Rumba are joined by the fabulous Welsh singer and songwriter Jess Hall who performs with them on ‘Poisson Rouge’\, the video featured below.
